"Did you get bitten?" James asked, running anxious hands over Snape’s arms, searching for tell-tale wetness.

Standing on shaky legs, Snape snarled, "No, Potter."

Furious now the danger was past, James demanded, "Why the hell did you come here tonight, Severus?" He snapped, "I told you to ignore Sirius."

Snape glared at James, "How the hell was I to know this wasn’t another Marauder prank, Potter? You called me a coward."

"I did not." James was obviously startled by the accusattion.

Snarling, Serverus retorted, "You certainly implied it."

The blood drained from James’ face, "Jesus...Severus...I didn’t mean to."
