Notes: I know it is cannon that Hogwarts was founded about a 1000 years ago and it is also cannon that wizards live unnaturally long lives so under both those assumptions, they could have been around for the start of the Crusades. Can you tell I just saw Kingdom of Heaven?

In the year 1095, Pope Urban II sent a Papal letter, demanding an army of wizards to assist the Crusaders, ending with, "Undertake this journey for the remission of your sins, with the assurance of the imperishable glory of the Kingdom of Heaven!"

The three remaining; Helga, Ravena, and Godric, conferred and sent back a resounding, "No thank you", having decided that Hogwarts was better off outside the politics of the common man, no matter if the Pope believed he was otherwise.

Some four hundred years later, the Popes, who neither forgot nor forgave, sanctified the burning of the witches.
