Notes: A sequel to A Friend in Need but it stands alone well.  Hermione, basically, just broke up with Ron.

He’d watched her forever, it seemed.  Always watching, he'd never realized he was the glue holding them together.  He longed without hope as she turned to his best friend, never daring to do more than watch.

Do it now.  The inner voice, or was that maybe his inner demons, prompted him.  She needs you.

Resolutely, Harry ignored that demon, ignored his own urges, and gently cradled a sobbing Hermione to his chest, offering nothing but concerned friendship.  Burying his face in her hair, Harry breathed deep, taking in her scent, no longer content just to watch.  Hermione, I love you.
