Notes: This could be a prequel to A Parting Gift and a prequel to A Friend in Need but it stands alone well.  Funny thing about prequels, they tend to do that.
 
Harry knew that he was going to die.  That was why, if anyone had asked him, he broke up with Ginny.  He no longer went to class either.  Instead, he hid in his room, staying away from his friends.

Hermione found him every night, badgering him to do something, anything, but how could she understand what was prompting his actions, or rather, lack of?  He was going to have to die fighting Voldemort and he knew it…

“Harry?”

“Go away, Hermione.”

“I broke it off with Ron, Harry.”  Hermione valiantly swallowed back her tears, “I just thought you should know.”
