Ever since her sentencing, Bellatrix had not spoken a single word to anyone. Not to her temporary jailers, not to the Death Eaters, and not to her husband.
With her formidable dignity wrapped about her like a cloak, Bellatrix boarded her final journey. Silent and defiant, she stood in the prow, ignoring the icy spray soaking her to the skin and turning her skin blue.
As they finally made shore, Bellatrix spoke for the first time in days, “So this is what you call hell.” She glanced around, taking in the inhospitable island, and sneered, “I’ve been in worse places.”
