Sirius crumpled the letter in his hands, anguish etched on his handsome face. Before James or Remus could stop him, Sirius found himself at his brother’s side. "Mum and Dad are wrong. Dead wrong. Don’t let yourself get dragged into their mad schemes and, for pity’s sake, stay away from Snape! You don’t want to get mixed up in his crowd."

"How little you know." Regulus sneered quietly, relishing the look on his brother’s face. "That is my crowd, Sirius. And you would do well to join us."

"Never." Sirius hissed and stalked away, too late to save his brother.
