The Wyndhelme's (the current ruling family) have held the throne for the past five generations, having married into the former ruling family, the DragonStorm, and took over through their progency.
The history of StormHaven - Built even before the DragonStorm's rule, the castle is the oldest structure still standing in the land of Geronia and is also the only castle to never have fallen to an enemy. As the legend goes, when the castle was first constructed, the southrons saw it and were envious. King Jahannson StormKnight saw the castle and the fair land of Geronia on a State visit and decided to conquer the kingdom. He unleashed his StormKnights and assaulted the castle with an army far superior in both numbers and skill to take the castle. However, the Queen of Geronia, Catherine the Magnificent, was able to rally her people together and stave off the enemy for six long months, earning the name 'StormHaven' for both the castle and the rest of her rule.
Undaunted, however, the StormKnight's assaulted the castle summer after summer. Finally, after many years of beseiging and retreating, Catherine and Jahannson met in a neutral lands in the winter months. Both were desperate for the war to stop and neither one wanted to back down. No one really knows exactly what occured at the meeting but their wedding was set not six months later. Their first son, and the Heir to thier combined kingdoms, was born a scant two months after the wedding.
Rich in history and rich with the combined loot of the Kings and Queens who have dwelt there, StormHaven is endlessly fascinating. The castle has been added on to over the years, growing outside of the original walls surround the castle. New rooms have been added, new art work, and each Monarch has added their own flair to the portions built during his/her reign, insuing that the castle is a hodgepodge of the styles and times that have occured.
